Students want to take their exams
The French students are opposed to the idea of cancelling their final examinations. Their majority of them (52%) want to sit a simplified version of the exams; 41% prefer to take them as they were planned. Only 4% of the students want their semi-semestrials to be cancelled, according to a poll published Monday in Le Parisien/Aujourd'hui en France. Only 11% think that a supression of the exams and an automatic validation of the credits is desirable.
Twenty colleges are still disturbed by the movement of the teachers-researchers, the exams maintenance could be compromised. The Minister of higher education, Valérie Pécresse, claimed in a discussion at Journal du dimanche that it was "out of question to validate automatically exams while course are not delivered normally".
According to her, if students and teachers start to make up for their classes now, "we could organize the exams before summer" confirmed Valérie Pécresse who "refuses to imagine the worst". That for her, would be the impossibility of organizing the exams before summer. The strike in colleges and universities started in January.
